It always amazes me when I get CD's in the mail from people who want us to review them. What must people be thinking when they send us their band demo album or full length EP? Are they scared? Are they intimidated? Do they say "I hope my music is good enough for the BIGGEST LETDOWN boys!"??? Well, I just want you all to know that we're not monsters here at the Biggest Letdown. We're actually quite nice. With the exception of Kevin, we are all very approachable people. And, to top it all off, we all like a lot of different types of music. This is good news for John Ashfield.

Jesus. Where do I start with this review? I'm usually the kind of person who listens to punk rock, old Country, Surf-rock, Ska, or upbeat pop music. I'm not too keen on happy-go-lucky men who sing their hearts out about girls or how life is making them happy. John is a surprise to me. I played this album in my CD player twice before I realized that I was tapping my foot and swishing my shoulders to most of the songs. He's got a catchy tune on these jams. From the look of his bio, John Ashfield is a very large man. If I saw this man on the streets, I'd never think of him as the same person who did this album.

Anyways, John is apparently a large fan of Johnny Mathis. I think his facination borders on the brink of stalker-status. Well, John (Ashfield) recorded his own songs which pay tribute to Johnny Mathis and his legendary album Love is Blue. This album (The John Ashfield one) is named Love is Blue and each song is named the same as the old Johnny Mathis one. And if that's not crazy enough, then the songs are arranged on the album the same as the Johnny Mathis album. Stange? Yes. Clever? Possibly. But if you want something even more bizarre, you should note that the album cover is very similar to the Mathis one.

Well, John, I like your album. I really do. My top songs here would be Don't Go Breaking My Heart, Here There And Everywhere, and Moon River.

I guess you could file this album under easy listening. Whatever.

Check out his official website to order your very own CD.
