There's a reason that Stephen Colbert's I AM AMERICA (AND SO CAN YOU) is a must-have for your holiday season. That reason is... that it's a really good book. It's amazing to read the thoughts that come out of Stephen's head.
Now, for those of you who think that Stephen Colbert likes to write books about himself - you might be surprised to learn that I AM AMERICA (AND SO CAN YOU) was actually taken from audio recordings made over a three-day period. Sure, there's much more to it than that, but this is really how it started. That's how good Stephen is - he can basically come up with a book's middle-section in three days.
This book is a really good read. From beginning to end, I was completely submerged in COLBERTISM. He's a very clever man and his humor/ideas are so completely right-wing that they fly back to the left again. From the cover of the book, to the overall look (like a bible - complete with ribbon for place-marking) to the outrageous ego that he tries to portray, this is a book for everyone to read at least once.
Stephen, you've done a great thing with this book. I loved it, and I'm planning on buying more copies for friends and family this holiday season. I hope you know that I am contributing to your wealth - even if the Writers Guild of America is still on strike (at the time of this writing).
