When you listen to someone like David Rovics, you're going to hear songs about Operation Iraqi Liberation (OIL), different wars, battles, and reasons why our government is royally fucking it's people. He's armed with a guitar and his voice. His songs are funny, sad, inspirational, and awe-inspiring. I like this album because it's good. Is that reason enough to review it? I think so.
Normally I'm not a fan of politically-driven music. Jesus, I'm not really a fan of people making funny puns about how fucked up our Government is or what our wars are really about. Also, conspiracy theories are really irritating - even when put to music. But, David Rovics is different, somehow. His music is inspiring and entertaining. He's not like all these other nut-jobs that want you to hate our screwed up government. Or, maybe he is just like them, only he's the only one that makes sense.
Yes, David is probably a hippie. A war-hating, truth-seeking, an answer-questioning hippie. But, he's got some great songs. And, that's what you listen to music for, right? The songs. Pick this album up. It might get you to start questioning some things.
