Stealing Jane - this album has been waiting for a long time to be reviewed by me. It's been waiting, beause good things need to wait for a while. This album actually had to PROVE TO ME that it was worthy of being reivewed here - and, folks, it's definitely worthy of review. From beginning to end (only 6 songs) this album is really good. Rock, pop, jazz, salsa, swing, and a crud-load of other genres of music are combined to give Stealing Jane their sound. Fellas, you've got something here.
So, where do these boys hail from? Well, have you ever heard of Oyster Bay Township? Yeah, me neither. Apparently they breed good musicians there. Let's all go on a field trip to Oyster Bay and thank the locals for Stealing Jane.
These guys haven't really been around all that long (compared to THE ROLLING STONES or a piece of dirt), but they sure are making waves in the independant music industry. There aren't many bands out there (besides Ska or Jazz bands) that employ 8 musicians in their line-up. This really helps their sound. My one suggestion would be to add a harp player. That would really drive this over the edge of rock 'n roll. Yeah guys, do that.
So, what are some good songs on this album? Try OUTSIDE and THIS IS GOODBYE. They are my favorite right now. Both songs are good - and that's all I have to say about them. I'm not going to say why they're so good, but just trust me when I say they're good. That's why you read music reviews anyway, right? You want my opinion, and that's what this is.
If you like Indie rock bands that actually have talent and will keep your attention for longer than MTV will, then check out Stealing Jane. They really are a good band. Oh, and tell 'em that Andy recommended them.
