No Shade In Sight 2008

Every year, my skateboard shop throws a giant contest in my city called the NO SHADE IN SIGHT contest. It's always held during the hottest part of the year, and it's usually a miserable skateboarding experience for all who compete. We feel that this is a good way to level the competition and gives everyone a fair shot at winning. Basically, it's an endurance test. This year was no exception. With the temperature over 100 degrees (and the heat index way hotter), the kids were really suffering. As for videos go, it's really hard to find a friend to videotape such events because most people aren't good camera-operators. Still, it's gotta be done, so this year we found someone who at least understood how to hold the camera right-side up (most of the time). I've been charged with the hard task of editing together a highlight reel from the shitty footage of this past event (August 3rd) and let me tell you, this was a real challenge. Out of 60 minutes worth of footage, this was all the usable footage I could find. Enjoy.
AP - A man says his cell phone saved his life. A stray .45-caliber bullet hit R.J. Richard's chest while he was mowing the lawn — hitting so hard he thought it was a stone kicked out by his tractor. He pulled out the phone. It fell apart.
AP - A 24-year-old woman, on her first trip to Las Vegas, is worrying less about the nation's economy. That's because Jessica Agbunag won $2.4 million on Wednesday at a Wheel of Fortune slot machine at the California Hotel and Casino.
AP - Law enforcement authorities arrested an 81-year-old man who illegally sold powerful prescription pain relievers. The arrest followed a raid on a home Monday by the Alaska Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Enforcement.
