The Victors new album landed on the doorsteps of the Biggest Letdown recently, and I've been wondering if I should give it a listen to. Well, that's not true. Actually, I really wanted to listen to it. I like listening to bands that I've never heard of. It helps give me an idea of how the musical world is going since I'm not in a band. Should I start a band and save the world from bad music? Well, with albums like DAYS TO COME I'm still considering that option.
Don't get me wrong, I don't hate this album. There are some great parts to it. It's not exactly what I was expecting, but it's got some good songs, and that's what counts. I'm a fan of THE ONE, but I hate the title song, DAYS TO COME. It makes me think back to why I decided to do music reviews - to hate on music that I don't like. That song is not a good song. I cringe when I hear it. But, like I said, I really like the next song, THE ONE. And for that matter, I like MOUSETRAP (I NEVER WANNA LET YOUDOW). The song that follows, TEMPLE OF STONE should have probably been left out of the album, though. Yeah, I'm not feeling it. And I couldn't get though WALK AWAY. I really had to walk away from that one - by skipping over the track after the first 10 seconds. I need to hear something that's gonna make me say LET'S BRING ON THE ROCK!
Overall, this album is different. There's some happy, rocking, good songs here. Then, there are some songs that are really heartfelt and over-produced that I can't really get behind. When listening to the Victors, I can imagine that their live performances are very coordinated and the lighting is very professional. I don't want to see that in a live performance. I want a band to just kick back and rock me. When listening to this album, I just don't see that happening. For an example of a song I don't like, check out the song SWEETNESS. God, I can't handle that. It's way too moody.
But, maybe you're all diehard Victor fans. Maybe you all know something about them that I don't. Fuck, I'm just reviewing their album. For those of you who want to experiment in your musical tastes, please check out their website and form your own opinion.
