I'm so very happy that TROMA has finally been able to release POULTRYGEIST on DVD. I've been waiting patiently for years hoping that one day this movie would see the light of day. Of course, there have been some theatrical viewings of this fine piece of cinematic history, but those viewings were never near my area. Also, there was a ton of pirated bootlegs of this film hitting the internet. Folks, let me just assure you that it's worth every penny to buy this movie collection.

This is an exclusive 3-disc edition for Poultrygeist. They're not making a single-disc version to buy, and they're only making 15,000 copies of it. This DVD collection is jam-packed with extras. there's a full on documentary about the hell they went through to make this film (as with all TROMA FILMS, this one had a lot of bumps in the road). There's some commentaries, a few deleted scenes, a couple music videos, and some trailers from the wonderful vaults at TROMA STUDIOS.

The 3rd disc in this set is really awesome. It's a karaoke DVD for all the songs in this movie. If I haven't mentioned it yet, this film is part musical, part horror film, part comedy, part exploitation flick, and partially monumental on TROMA'S budget scale. It's fantastic. So, what's the main movie about? Well, here's the plot in an egg-shell (lots of chicken puns are in this film): This fast food chicken restaurant was built in Troma-ville on top of an ancient Indian burial ground and on it's opening day all hell breaks loose when people eat tainted chicken and eggs. All the patrons turn into Chicken Zombies and rip other people apart. The main guy in the film has taken a job at this restaurant because the love of his life has turned gay (and apparently vegetarian) so he gets a job there to show her the error of her ways. There's lots of political jokes and references through-out the film as well as social jokes to make people aware of things going on around them. Troma has always been known to do this, but POULTRYGEIST is the best they've done so far.

While watching this movie, I keep thinking back to their early days with TOXIC AVENGER, SQUEEZE PLAY,and TROMA'S WAR. Those are some of the films that made TROMA famous, and this movie is a great addition to their filmmaking brilliance. Honestly, this movie is a classic. For those of you who love horror films, musicals, comedies, or really sick and perverted jokes, this movie is for you.

Well done Lloyd and crew. I'd also like to give a special shout-out to Gabe Friedman. He's the editor. He's been editing Troma's more recent movies and from the way things look in all the behind the scene's documentaries, his job must be pretty shitty. Good job Gabe. Great fucking movie.

Go to Troma's website to buy a copy today.
