Listening to Jay Shaner's album BEST LAID PLANS brings back grand memories of people that I met just like him when I was growing up and hanging out in coffee shops and open mic nights all around my city. He's got a great voice and good songs. Very mellow and intriguing. I'm glad that Jay made this album. There's a lot in his songs that people like me can identify with. I'm happy with this album.
This is the type of album that I could listen to late at night when driving a long distance to a place that I don't want to go. If I get into a fight with my girlfriend and I think she's wrong about what she said about my shoes, I'll put this album on my IPOD and go walking around the park listening to this album over and over again. If my friend stabs me in the back again, then I'll use this album as a way to drown out my sorrows while I look around for a gun.
Another example of this album - have you ever watched the TV show SCRUBS? Remember when there's times in the show that everything gets really serious and unfunny? Remember how there's some song in the background that brings the emotion up by a few notches? Well, this is the type of music for those parts of the show. Those are great songs, too. I like them.
So far, my favorite songs on this album are STUCK IN THE FALLOUT, THE BANANA AND WINE SONG, and THE ASTRONAUT SONG. They really are good songs. You need to check them out. And while you're checking out those songs, you should probably check out the rest of this album.
