I just received a bribe to review this album. Some of you would frown upon people bribing to get their albums reviewed. Not me. Look, if you're gonna bribe me, I'm happy to get extra CDs, VHS tapes, DVDs, polaroid pictures of your girlfriends in the bedroom/closet, or - and most importantly - food products. And that's exactly what Jive White Boy sent me!
Jive White boy is a guy living in Portland Oregon (there's some great skate parks up there) who tried to make a living selling furniture. Well, that didn't work out. Apparently that's enough to make you want to stab yourself in the face with a knife. This album took him some time to work on and is filled with indie-rock type and melodic songs about hope, despair, happiness, sadness, and all the things in-between that you can imagine coming from an ex-furniture salesman from Portland.
So, what was the bribe to get me to even open the package and review this album? Well, it's none other than some crazy-interesting form of Ramen-type noodles. Yummy! I suppose this is a way for me to understand what he was eating all this time while being broke in a place that he wanted to live and try not to give up on humanity. Hey, I love food. If you want me to be your friend, just buy me food. I'm cool with you. Really, I dig Jive White Boy's music. I'm not against it. It's pretty good. Don't think that I'm ONLY reviewing it due to the extra packaging of food that he sent. That definitely scored him some points, but I would have listened to and reviewed this album anyway.
So seriously, if you're into melodic rock and soft-spoken singers, this is the album for you. If you're one of those people who enjoy rainy days and looking out the window wondering about life, then I say you NEED this album. Don't just download it. Go out and buy it. Support local artists. Jive White Boy has got something here. While you all do that, I'm gonna eat my ramen noodles. Thanks dude.
