I feel good that so many independent artists still send me their CDs for consideration to review. I know that they NEED to get their music out there, but I like the feeling of holding a CD in my hand and being given the task of getting the masses to listen to it. Thank you indie artists. Dax's newest album just showed up in my office and I'm super excited about it. I was a little confused by the front and back cover of this album. Is he TRYING to look like George Michael? Is he going to be good? Is he going to be horrible? With a name like Dax, all of these questions quickly came to mind. Of course those questions were answered just as quickly.
Dax has been in an 80's inspired band for the past few years (ever since he released his last solo album in '03). Now he wants to bring back the SOLO ROCKIN' that drives the women wild. OVERNIGHT SENSATION is pretty good. I'm impressed. Some notable songs on this album are MAN OVERBOARD, THE PAINTER, THE DEEP END and MUCH TO MY CHAGRIN. I think this is the first time anyone created a song with the word CHAGRIN in the title. What a great word. Thanks Dax, for bringing that word back. Also, having the balls to redo Nine Inch Nails' CLOSER was a great accomplishment. That song was rockin'. I liked it a lot.
So, seriously, get this album to make yourself feel better. Make yourself feel awesome. Make yourself feel like Dax's biggest fan. Oh, and if you want a great shot of his crotch, just look at the back cover. Nice one, Dax.
