 There is a new reason to celebrate the holidays, folks. Every once in a while you need to receive a gift that only someone who loves you can give. For me, that gift was DR. HORRBIBLE'S SING A-LONG BLOG on DVD. What a treat to finally see this 3 act internet film on the big screen! And, by BIG SCREEN, I mean my small ass television set. I love the holidays.
For those of you who don't know, DR HORRIBLE'S SING A LONG BLOG is an internet sensation. It's a 3 act musical about a villain (Dr. Horrible) and his arch-nemesis named Captain Hammer. I'm not so much a fan of musicals, but this is awesome. The lead character is played by none other than Neal Patrick Harris (Doogie Houser). The other characters and stars do such a great job that it's hard to imagine that there's not a real television show about this right now. It's a fantastic premise.
So, if the show is free on the internet, why buy the DVD? Well, that's simple. For one reason, there's some bonus material packed in here, such as a commentary track and a MUSICAL COMMENTARY track. There has never, ever, EVER been a musical commentary, and for them to pull this one off, I must applaud them over and over again. Plus, there's a MAKING OF featurette that goes in depth with the cast and crew of this show. Oh, and it's great to see this thing on a full screen now instead of your crappy computer monitor. Those are all great reasons to buy this. But how about the reason of SUPPORTING INTERNET ARTISTS? That's a great reason in and of itself.
So, why not purchase this film right now. Or, go out and buy some T-shirts or CDs of Dr. Horrible. You know you want to. We're a world of consumers. Let's consume.
