Darren Deicide's newest album from Ever Reviled records just popped up on my desk. Not on it's own, mind you. But it looks interesting. Let's have a listen...
This album is actually surprising to me. First off, don't ever describe an artist to a music reviewer as SPOKEN WORD. That was almost a deal-breaker for me. Darren is really good. Think of a pissed off Hazel Adkins, mixed with any and all good punk rockers. The songs on this album are kind of sinister and moody. I feel as though I'm listening to a man who wants to kill me - and my family. Almost like GG Allen. If Edger Allen Poe, Trent Reznor, Hazel Adkins and Rob Zombie wrote music together, they would sound like Darren Deicide.
The songs that really stand out for me are NAPALM, DEATH AND FIRE and THE JERSEY DEVIL IS HERE. Those are some great tracks. Really creepy and moody music. Also, I can't forget about THE COCAINE SONG. I'm not a fan of people who use drugs, but that song is really terrific.
If you want to explore the sad and dismal world of Darren Deicide, you definitely need this album. Go out and pick it up. Tell 'em that Andy sent you.
