When I think of the last name ROMERO, I think of the legendary horror film director George Romero. He's got spunk. He knows what he's doing. He's got some good style, too. Lots of people credit George with making the real FIRST zombie film. Night of the Living Dead was a wake up call to horror fans. He raised the bar in such a way that people had to rethink what horror was. But, this guy isn't George Romero's kin. I'm sure he doesn't even know Georgie.
From what I know, people apparently refer to Alex Romero as Bjork's male heir. I don't know if that's a compliment or criticism. I mean, c'mon - Bjorks' fucking nuts. She shouldn't be allowed around people.
There's a song on this album called REAL GOOD VIEW that surprises me. In the beginning of the song there's a voice that claims that this guy is gay - but when listening to the song Alex keeps singing TITS AND BOOTY over and over again. It's strange. It's also exciting. This album has a lot of musical styles involved with it. From Afro-Cuban dance cuts to trip-hop with classical beats thrown in for fun. There's no hardcore punk, rockabilly, salsa-ska, or bluegrass Country on this album. I checked. Over and over again.
If you ever go to one of those make-believe clubs that you see in the movies where people are all dancing on the stairs and the ladies take off all of their clothes to expose themselves as men, then you'd probably hear a track or two from this album. I think that's the only place you'd hear it, too. It's pretty good, but it's unusual.
