 Music to my ears is what I think of when I listen to Willie Heath Neal's new album. Of course, it's MUSIC and it's heading straight for my EARS, but it's good enough to make me jump up and shout for joy that there's still good country musicians out there. Fuck Poop-Country this is the real stuff! Songs about women, drinking, drug-use, and a beat up pick-up truck. Yes, Willie has made an amazing album here.
I've been a fan of Willie Heath Neal ever since his first album, UNKNOWN came out. It also helped that I got to see him live a few times to see how well he plays in front of people. Really, this guy can put on a great show. Over the years, his albums have been getting better and better, but OUT OF HIGHWAY is absolutely fantastic.
Right now, my TOP favorite songs on this album are:CRYING ALL THE TIME, SOMETHING'S WRONG WITH THE RADIO, THE CLASSIFIEDS, OFF MY MIND, OUTLAW SONG, and his rendition of the Misfits ATTITUDE. Jesus, it's great to hear a Countryfied version of that song. I still love every song on this album, but those really stick out in my head.
The problem that I have with this album is that it's hard to get. You can't find it in stores - unless it's special-ordered. Willie is on a smaller label called CHICKEN RANCH RECORDS out of Austin Texas and they just don't have the distribution that bigger labels have. That's ok, though. If you can, order this album online. Support true outlaw country artists. Keep this type of music alive, folks!
