 Lookout, ladies and gentlemen! I have just made a new pitcher of grape KOOL-AID and I don't know what I'm capable of! I'm in a sort of strange mood today (*mainly, it's the kool-aid) and I need some sort of music to deal with this emotion that I'm feeling. Good thing I've got the newest CD from AVI FOX-ROSEN here! Seriously, I am really into this album. It's like a strange, jazzy, cabaret-type of music that you can't tell if it's serious or not. Well, it's the kind of music that I can get into - and I think you should, too!
When I first heard this album I was trying to compare it to a VERY tame version of the LEGENDARY SHACK SHAKERS. But now I don't know if that fits this band. The music here is more like if the Beatles (in their later years), Queen, Elton John, a burlesque troupe, and a jazz club all got together one night and jammed out.
So far, my favorite songs on this album are HOT GIRL ON A BIKE, WHITE COLLAR CRIME, ELIJAH THE PROPHET, and LIFE'S SHORT AND THEN YOU DIE. This is the type of music that you can have playing all the time while you're doing something important. By IMPORTANT, I mean baking a cake or churning butter. You know, the type of stuff that you do in the mornings.
So, if you're in the market for something new and exciting, then try out Avi Fox-Rosen. This stuff is crazy. I like it. It's mellow, loud, jazzy, crazy, and strangely compulsive. Go get yourself an album!
