Typically when you first hear of a band with the balls to say their name is THE SELF-PROCLAIMED ROCKSTARS, you'd brush them off as being a little big on themselves. Now, when you check out a website called THE BIGGEST LETDOWN, you'd also generally brush that off as not giving itself enough credit. Both of these assessments are the reason why you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. Or a website. Or a band. Or a toaster-oven.
Ok, so I guess that doesn't make any sense. THE SELF PROCLAIMED ROCKSTARS are from Boston, and self-released their album to the masses. When I listen to this album, I think back to late-90's rock groups that just wanted to have fun and make music. Think about the time between grunge music and rap-rock. Remember when music actually had style and was well-made? This is another example of that.
Tracks to take note of here are SUBURBAN KINGPIN, NO FAITH, WHISKEYand PRETTY BABY DIRTY MOMMA. These songs really stick out and give this album some volume. The band is on the move and hopefully we'll be hearing more from them very soon. If you get a chance, check out POSTCARDS FROM PURGATORY, and remember you heard about them here.
Check out the band's website.
