I'm not sure how much you all know about me. I'm sure that there's a great deal that is unknown about what I do and what my interests are. A little known fact about me, though, is that I like to read. I read a lot. I read more than I should, really. My parents once told me that TV will rot my brains. What they SHOULD have told me is that reading will turn your brains into a breeding ground of nasty thoughts.
I like to read about serial killers and lunatics. I don't know why. Maybe because they are not around me. I'm surrounded by funny and well-kept people. Nothing out of the ordinary with my friends and aquaintances. That may be a big reason why I like to read about the wackos that have been captured in society these days. Maybe... or maybe not.
Psychopathia Sexualis is a book that was written back in 1890-something. It's been reprinted so many times that it makes my head spin. Originally it was written as a science text book for soon-to-be doctors to get a closer look at the criminally insane. What is contained in this book are case-studies from 238 different mentally unstable individuals. It's really a good book. Very juicy stuff is written down here.
What really pisses me off these days is when people tell me that we live in a violent society today. Society has always been violent. This book is one of many proofs of that. The only difference with the criminals of today and the perverted psychopaths of yester-year is that today we see them plastered all over the news or printed in the newspapers. If anything, we live in a much more civilized world these days, but we overly glorify the bad news. This is a shame. What is NOT a shame, though, is reading this book. It can expand your mind and tell you about sexual perversions from criminals in the past. There were some slimey characters back in the day. |
