For those of you who don't know who the Exploding Hearts were, were a band from Portland who put out one of the best albums of the decade before an accident on their way back from California in which three of the members were killed. First off if you don't own their album Guitar Romantic stop what your doing and go buy it. Now out on Dirtnap Records is Shattered a collection of alternate takes and rarities. Fuckin' A, from the time I hit play on my stereo I was entranced. I've always wanted to hear more from these guys who died before their time.  Their brand of power pop/ punk is at once familiar calling to memory some of the best bands that have ever come out and yet at once new, exciting, and original. The CD kicks off with three unreleased tracks and those three alone would have made the price worth it however, the rest of the tracks easily make this one of the best albums I've recently purchased. Following those three are alternate versions, rarities, and b-sides. These include a couple of great covers  "Walking Out On Love", and "Sniffin' Glue". The only downside is the reminder that we'll never hear more new recordings from these guy's.
